Best Café in New York City (2026)

42 venues

New York café culture has adapted entirely to the laptop worker — most independently owned spots in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan have power strips at every table, strong WiFi, and no time limits enforced. The working norm is well-established: buy something every hour or two and nobody will bother you. Concentrations in the East Village, Bushwick, and Williamsburg are the most laptop-friendly; Midtown cafés tend to be faster-moving and less tolerant of extended stays.
